LPN Classes Online

Are you interested in becoming a licensed practical nurse (LPN)? Like most areas of study, you can now take LPN classes online.

Depending on the state where they work, a licensed practical nurse (LPN) can be referred to as a licensed vocational nurse (LVN). LPNs provide basic nursing care, under the direction of registered nurses and doctors. They can work in nursing homes, extended care facilities, hospitals, physicians’ offices and in the private homes of the patients they look after. In order to become an LPN, you need to undergo sufficient education and training, which usually takes about 1 year. After completing LPN training from a state-approved program, you will also need to take and pass the National Council Licensure Examination, or NCLEX-PN. These days, you have the option of training to become an LPN with online LPN classes offered by accredited online schools.

The best online LPN programs will include hands-on clinical experience as a component of the program, so it will make sense to look for accredited online LPN programs in your area. This will make it easy and convenient for you to travel to their site on a regular basis to complete your clinical training. You can conduct your search online, or contact your state board of nursing for a list of accredited LPN programs, to look for schools near you that offer a distance-learning option.

When you have found a program, completed all the prerequisites and become accepted into the program, make sure you register for your LPN classes online. Aside from taking online classes, you may be expected to attend in-person meetings or demonstrations occasionally. Make sure you also attend the required clinical hours which you may need to complete at an affiliated health care facility.
